A small group of citizen scientists set out to discredit Paul Kerlinger's 2005 bat and avian assessment wherein HE DISMISSED Bald Eagles nesting in Highland County! This photograh taken in June 2006 is 1 of 3 confirmed nesting areas located during the first Highland County Bald Eagle breeding foray conducted Spring 2006. What's even more exciting is one of the adult birds of this young eagle is banded and in all liklihood the same adult Bald Eagle photographed five years ago by Larry Lynch as it gathered nesting material within 1/2 mile of the existing nest site. In spring 2007 the same nest was active with two young and one surving to fledge!
